RESTAURANT ITALIA&LOVE

Italian-style fine dining

2016
restaurant

On one of Bolzano’s most famous streets, the Via Argentieri, once dedicated to the silver trade, inside a historical building, lies the Italia&Amore restaurant, which offers authentic Italian cuisine. On the outside, the arches of the entrance and the glass windows take up the historical tradition of the portico vaults and make the spatial sequence of the interior spaces perceptible. The design takes place in both the horizontal and vertical planes.

Inside, a suspended staircase becomes the centerpiece of the sensory experience, from which four floors extend, dedicated to food, wine and history. The ground floor houses the bar and a large table laid out in Italian style. The kitchen and restaurant area are on the first floor while the second floor offers further areas with tables and seating. The top floor is an intimate terrace surrounded by plants and spices, offering a wide view of the city’s rooftops. The light traces the spatial path that winds between convivial and private areas. The selected hanging lamps selectively illuminate the individual tables and seating areas. In order to include the constant dialogue between past and present, the natural texture of the wood was contrasted with decorated tiles.
